Hi all, what would you guys do? I've had to change my injection pump and have ended up in this state....

The timing belts about 1.5 years old and done 20k miles. What's the consensus of opinions....Change it or Leave it?

I'm thinking of changing it as its such a ####ing ball ache to get to.

Cheers

Change it, cheap kits from britpart that contain a dayco belt, Ive personally used 3 of them and a mates used a couple all with no issues.
The kit does not come with the extra idler that the disco engine needs like yours

Change it - you will then effectively give yourself an extra 20K and 1.5 years from when it would have been due, all for for the price of a belt.

I thought that Dayco were oem?

Quite possibly but as 200 tdi been out of production for many a year I dont suppose thats that important:D
I think kit was 40 ish quid
I did the one on my D3 a few months back again britpart belt kit, again all dayco incl the tensioner pulleys, bit more than 40 quid though:eek:
Still after reading what happens to the tdv6 when the oil pump casting fails I reckoned it was good insurance.
I got price wrong its 24.99! plus another tenner for the extra idler, or they do a slightly better kit for another 6 quid, listed as oem.

Cheers as always guys.

Just a double check here. I didn't touch the cam gear wheel once the engine was locked but it's sat like this....

If I move it 1 tooth on the belt it's this...

The second pic is correct isn't it? It may have moved when I was interfering with the injection pump.

From 2004 Autodata.
Landrover recommend the following;
200tdi
Every 60,000 miles or Five years - normal conditions.
Every 30,000 miles or 2.5 years - Under adverse Conditions.
300 Tdi
72,000 or 6 years. Normal
36,000 or 3 years adverse.
This is depending on previous service history and engine condition. (no oil leaks onto belts) oil = disaster. change the oil seal, check breathers for blockages. crank case pressure will by pass worn seals.
