Hi just stripped down to the pistons out stage so what should I be looking for on the pistons and rings and how to find what size rings are on as no reference numbers and how far do I continue or I am at the point of no return thanks

piston will be marked std or +20 etc, cylinder wall will tell you the most whether theres any crosshatch left ot scratched walls or polished, rings should be free to move in the grooves and not gummed up

Hi thanks for your response I will have a look tomorrow on the piston walls but on the pistons crowns there’s number Tx err 1387
The crosshatching is still good the pistons ring were free and pretty clear but there were carbon marks on the side’s just around the conrod pins up to the rings not sure if that’s normal plus I have taken the top pistons rings off and placed them back in the bores and measure them and one at 0.025 and the rest 0.030 so I don’t know to change the rings why I am there or reuse
the conrod bearings are bronze on the tops ones so I will change them now I took one of the main bearings caps off and it looks fine to me or is it the top ones that go or should I go all the way and change them as well
I decided to strip down because of bad blue smoke and a small leak on the cylinder head gasket thanks
