I've got an early 200tdi disco which up untill recently has been faultless and started immediately with or without heat as all myother tdi's have done.

It now takes a few seconds of cranking to fire, a situation that seemed to have materialised pretty much over night.

Filters are all ok and the motor otherwise runs fine, if it hasn't been stood for more than about 30 mins it fires up straight away.
There are no obvious diesel leaks.

Could it be a lift pump problem?

yes are a little air when bleeding system undo front inlet banjo on ijection pump to let air out, could also be sedimentor if so just bypass it
