Hi guys,

I am looking at getting a intercooler and tweaking the fuel pump. But i am unsure on which intercooler to get. There are so many brands out there and i was wandering if anyone could shed some light on whats good and whats not.

Cheers

Well, most of the performance ones are wider compared to the standard and require special mounting bracketd and a lot of fiddling. However, I did see somewhere recently 'dual core' intercoolers for Defenders which are deeper (providing more cooling due to bigger surace area) and are the the same width as the standard intercooler.

Land Rover Defender 300 Tdi Uprated Double Core Intercooler

good luck :)

When fitting an uprated intercooler, is it essential for any fuelling alterations to be carried out to to match the increase in air gains?

Just for you OP........

One I fitted earlier:

Nice under the bonnet shot. I too have a larger intercooler, Allisport one and I tweaked the Pump.....however question to you is about something else:
I see you have redirected your oil pipe from the cyclone and capped off the air filter. Where does the outlet go to from the capture vessel and Why do it at all? what difference does it make? I take it you have used a PAS fluid bottle?

Yes it goes to a PAS resevoir which is by design perfect for the job - take a look at one if you can.I filled the resevoir with stainless pan scrubbers which collect the oil vapour and consolidate back to oil.

The base outlet goes to a Y piece and returns to the sump, the top of the resevoir has a pipe fitting that goes to a small blow off filter.

It all works very well, drops no oil from this source and keeps the intercooler and related pipes clean.

Mine must be a special then as I had the pipe work off the other week from the turbo to the intercooler and there was nothing.
