can anyone tell me which relay is the starter relay on the 200tdi disco i belive it is a five pin but i can only find one five pin in the wrong place to were haynes said it should be, that one is brown, all the rest are 4 pin yellow ones, any ideas on colour, pin numbers and location?cheers

White/red (or Brown /red) are the wire colours to the starter solenoid on the starter it's self.
the starter solenoid relay should be located in the right hand footwall and its yellow

Is it not the black relay attached to the air filter under the bonnet? It's 70A.

Stu

just spoke to a mate who runs a land rover workshop and he said there is no relay is just a live feed from battery to ignition to solinoind which is on top of the starter. if i dnt work u will need to get a new starter or solonoind.

sorry bout 1st post i thought there was but clearly not.
hope thats more helpful!

can u get the wiring diagram on here??
thinking bout it there is no reaosn for a relay surely??

I would have thought you would need a relay as there is no way the ignition switch could transrer those sort of amps from the battery to the starter. It would have to be switched via a relay wouldnt it?

ignition acts as a switch. two seperate wires...key turns acts as a switch and therefore lets 12v through. there is not 12v running throhg ignition wire.
in all honesty i thought there would/should b a relay but my mate knows more than i do being a land rover mechanic so dunno!

Anyone help me. 200tdi discovery engine in defender. Mate jumped started my truck put the red and blacks wrong way round I’m guessing it’s frazzled something. Went down the road turned my lights on cut my truck out. Doesn’t always do that
