i have a 200tdi engine which ran fine on a long journey. came to start today engine revs its head of no control on revs cable working fine. any help please sounds like engine is going to blow up tryed it several times but the same happens

sounds like it may be running on oil from engine (hgf) if it is it will rev
to destruction

obvious ones are excessive turbo oil etc, best to have someone sitting in it and prepared to dump it into 3rd gear with hand brake on as when the run on oil they will explode.

turbo oil seal failure or head gasket on early 200 tdi known fault

it is a problem related to turbo oilseal failure and engine oil passing into combustion.pl replace turbo.

Well if it switchs off with the key its unlikely to be the turbo probably a pump fault.
