Hello to you all this is my first call for help usually with the search function or googling around I get my answers but this time I am STUCK. Did all (I hope)that I found with the SEARCH button and Google so now I am here asking for advice.
The Disco is a 1993 200tdi with 110000 miles
The problem revs only till 3000 even in neutral. Turbo blows fine but when it hits the 3000 even the usual smoke stops. Not Missing just stops revving up.
Tried: new fuel filter, new lift pump, checked turbo hoses, cleaned sedimentor, checked diesel tank pickup. Did the ‘sluggish disco not any more’ procedure with excellent improvement till the 3000 rpms.
Suspecting the diesel pump.
Any Ideas thanks

just had same on my 300tdi..

serviced it, cleaned sedimenter... no better...

turned out to be the new lift pump i fitted 6 weeks ago... the lever inside the pump had snapped... ****part rules

Thanks for your reply but I check with 2 lift pumps a used one from a mate but still bought a new one to be 100% sure.

my 200 tdi disco is flat after 3000 rpm but saying that it pulls very well from 1800 rpm so i feel no need to rev above 3000 rpm anyways - im pretty sure mine needs a lift pump as when tested it doesent give great pressure - i just assumed that all the power & torque was delivered between 1800 & 3000 rpm - but i stand to be corrected !

I agree With you that there is no need to Rev it more than 3000 but still it I like to fix the problem . Next step is going to a bosch guy as now after I tried every thing i am suspecting the pump.

Update. Got me a self repair disco ?:p
Well everything is back to normal ….:D

BUT I did not do it:confused:, from the last post I did not have time to pursue further.
Last week I was accelerating out from a street and the Disco kept on revving till 3500 without a miss, I couldn’t believe my eyes so drove to some to a place where I could try out properly and it went up till just over 4000.
The only thing I changed recently is the pipe from the air cleaner to the turbo as it was a little cracked. Could this pipe have made all the difference ?
Thanks to you all.
