Hi,

I've spent a wonderful afternoon cursing the 'nut from hell' at the top of my Starter which I'm planning on overhauling with one of those cheap kits you can buy. Anyhow, success followed my efforts BUT in taking the cover off my Cylinder Head I noticed that there's quite a lot of oil leaking from it. Is this normal? Pics below.

Mileage is 180k (2005 Defender 110) and I'm concerned it may be on the brink of something serious ....

Any thoughts / advice is appreciated ....

From the photos it looks like the rocker cover seal, not expensive why not give it a good clean down and fit a new one, once its clean any leak should be easy to pinpoint.

Agree with above new rocker seal and fpr inc gasket brake cleaner it all up leave cover off and drive it and keep checking for the first leek if any

Many thanks for your advice. Exactly what I wanted hear -

And apologies for the delay in responding ... I updated my profile contact email address and Landyzone wanted me to reconfirm email address and I've been waiting for their email!!
