Hi all I'm new on here, me and my wife have just brought a FL Td4 with 75k on it, it's got full service history and had most of that by landrover, tonight she noticed that when changing from 4th to 5th there is a whining sound, oly for about 10 second after selection, then disappears, no pressure on lever and clutch seems good, it appears to be coming through the head lever, I only picked it up on sat, it's still under the standard 3 month warranty I'm just scared that it's something major, anyone else had the same problem or know what it can be, please help

Send it back under warranty... something is on its way out or perhaps MTF oil needs changing

Took to local garage turns out it only does it when pressure is applied to lever side to side, mechanic believes that the selector fork is worn, also how heavy are the clutch on these are they light like a car or heavy ish like the old discos

Scrimmy87- I also have this problem (whining/pulsing noise) that is only apparant in 5th gear at between 50-60mph...The noise then completely disappears. This has only happened since i had 4 new tyres fitted last week. Has your mechanic suggested replacing the fork or are you happy to live with it?

It's going back to dealership next week for them to look at, it only does it when pressure is applied side on, he believes that someone in the past has rested their hand on lever which has cause the fork to be slightly worn, if we are gentle when selecting 5th no boose is there, I'll get some pics of the fl when I've cleaned it week end black always shows every speck of s***

Update bit late I know, problem solved it was a gear selector bush or something like that, but now a new noise has come, it's like a drone/whine at around 45-60 in 5th but it appears to go when clutch is depressed or when it's knocked out of gear without foot on clutch, anybody have any ideas or expeirienced the same, thanks,
