as all you freelander 1 owners will know that when you open the tailgate on your freelander 1 the rear window glass has to drop slightly to allow the tailgate to open, on mine the glass has stopped dropping so everytime i want to get in the boot i have to physically get in the car and press the rear window switch to drop the window before opening the tailgate, any ideas?? its really annoying , the window is working fine on the switch just not dropping to open the boot...........

ok thanks biggeeeee. have had a quick read and sounds similar but think mine is just something simple as everything else is working, not like the other guy on that thread, does anybody know simply how to re caliberate the tailgate glass? muchos thanks

Could also be a fault in the tailgate handle where the signal is not being sent to the ccu to drop the glass 50mm

Recalibrate by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, when you reconnect the battery the rear window will drop right down - use the interior switch to fully raise it ...window recalibrated !!
before you disconnect make sure you have the alarm disarmed and you may need the code for your radio too

ah right thanks ill try the re-caliberation and see how that goes, if not ill have to look a bit deeper, cheers :mil39:

not tried the re-cal yet but has anybody else come across the same problem? or have any views on this? lets get the discussion going peeps :lvkiss-106:

Does the tailgate actually open?

Can you put the tailgate window down by using the internal button? If yes then try the handle open switch. Listern for the micro switch switching. You'll also hear the relay click inside on the drivers side of the boot space. It the relay dun't click then it could be the micro switch in the handle.

I have the same problem on my landy, the window doesn't drop when opened from the read door but the switch inside works. I think it must have something to do with the handle. When I find out what it is I will post it.

Heres the switch inquestion , with the handle insert removed , bad news is they are heat bonded (fixed) to the main handle asembley , theres one more switch that is fitted to the key lock , to close the window when it has been opened with the fob !

Did anyone, with this problem, try to replace the springs and microswitch, with the kit sell on eBay for Freelander 1, it comes with 2Xmicroswitch, 2Xsprings and 1 plastic handle for £10.00.
As I have the same problem I'm going to try one of these days.
