Hi, my freelander td4 116k miles, smokes like crazy on start up from cold i.e. standing over night. The revs are lumpy until the engine clears the smoke. Once the engine is at temperature it is ok on start up. The engine starts well, pulls well, does not over heat, coolant levels ok, drives well. Just cold start!
The mechanic who put injectors in last year said something about the fuel rail, would that be the sensor or valve on the rail?
It really is smoke city in the morning. It is if there is fuel getting in and trying to flood it, good job it starts bob-on.
Can any one help me out, do i buy a fuel rail? sensor? valve?
I am not spending a fortune as it runs great when at temperature, Oh i slightly over filled it with oil when i changed it (only a mm or so above max)
Would a faulty fuel rail pressure switch cause it?
