I have a 2004 Land Rover Freelander TD4 3 door hardtop. When I bought the car the tailgate window was in the up position but pushed outside the window seal and the battery was flat. I recharged the battery and drove normally for a few days until I noticed the window was up, but in the wrong position outside the seal. I lowered the window and then raised it into the correct position inside the seal, only to hear three beeps and witness the window lower back down.
-I have tried the reset procedure many times with no change in behaviour.
-I have removed the top and placed it back several times with no change.
-If I lock the truck and raise the window with the key, it will stay up until I unlock the truck.
-I can only drive the truck with the tailgate window up if I lock the truck with the doors open, then start the truck, get inside and close the driver's door after. The alarm doesn't go off and I can still raise/lower the door windows but the button for the tailgate window stops working as well as the central locking button inside truck...the instant I use the unlock button on the key fob, the tailgate window goes down and we're back to square one.
What can I do aside from the factory reset procedure to get the window to stay up?? Like I said, I didn't realize it but it was staying up pushed outside of the window seal when I bought it...I am getting thee beeps every time I try to reset it. It will always go all the way up with the button but will immediately return to the down position. I can lock all the doors and force it to stay up using the key, but it will go back down the instant I unlock the car.
Please help and thank you!
