Yesterday when out in the Disco for a short distance the engine mis behaved.

Just pulled out of a junction then up a slight incline, accelerating and just picking up speed, on a country lane, probably around 20 - 30mph. It was as tho the throttle was on/off/on/off with the foot on the accelerator in the same position, a bit like it didn't know whether to change down or stay in the same gear. Think I was in 3rd gear when this was happening so would have dropped down into 2nd. When I did press the accelerator to force a down change, it didn't die on me but didn't zoom away either more hesitatant. Had been driving fine before that and was OK later.

Update 09/09/24 - On occassions I can drive without any issue, its been into the garage for MOT last week and passed without issue. Then yesterday as soon as I got in, car cold pulling away, 1st gear, the same strange accelerator behaviour, continues in all gears including on the motorway at 70mph in top with lockup working fine I could feel the on/off accelerator, not all the time but every now and then. One additional feature when I go over a bump, sometimes just hitting the cats eyes when changing lane or a pothole there is a feeling that the engine hangs back/cuts out/hicups for a split second.

Could be a dirty connection, broken wire or failing sensory some where, but where to start ?

Is there a way of checking the readings on the throttle body' position sensor, I've got a Nanocom but never done that level of diagnostics

Any ideas on what to check, or just keep driving until something stops ?

So the problem got worse such that it became undriveable so booked into the local LR specialists who quickly identified the MAF as failing. So a quick if not so cheap fix and all back to smooth running. If anything possibly a little more responsive on acceleration.

I should have unplugged it and gone for a test run as that is what the garage did to confirm their suspicions.
