2002 TD6 Vogue..... Had it 6 years now and it's been great. Used as a second car the last 3 years doing little mileage, towing caravan etc.

It's been off the road a couple of months (not due to a fault, just not needed).
I started every few weeks, no issues, was on the optimate last week for a few days and started it up after it was running fine.....

MOT is booked for Wednesday (oh god I hear you shout!) I like the car to go in clean so came back from work to fire it up and a quick wash. Windscreen was very condensated up internally.

So go to start her up, ignition on........engine temp gauge goes flying up to the red (oh WTF me thinks) as well as Air susp inac, ABS, brake pad warning light and DSP light on. Secondry leccy fan was running with ignition on (I guess it should as apparently the engines seriously overheating! Apparently! ) Heated screens not working nor the air con (HVAC fan fine but air con compressor not kicking in)

Started up and engine ran fine.
Plugged in Hawkeye and it is saying "can bus" fault...... Oh Brilliant I'm thinking.....

Cleared fault, it came back logged as quick as it got deleted. Switched off, locked, unlocked restarted same old.

Checked the BCU under passenger seat.....all seemed dry (didn't want to start disconnecting things at this point) passenger fuse box and boot all dry everything was dry apart from inside of windscreen very wet with condensation.

Dried the screen off with a cloth And thought I'd stick dehumidifier in it and leave it overnight let it all dry out and investigate further when I have time, oh and I'll need to cancel the MOT too!

So Fired her up and it was running for about 5 mins or so then noticed the engine temperature gauge started flickering, then went down to the 'actual engine temp'. Heated screens worked...... So I switched off. Cleared can bus fault...... It cleared and stayed off. Great!

Started back up, Did the lock to lock to clear all the other warnings which worked.....and she was running again fault free (if there is such thing as a fault free RR he asks, touching wood!)

Left her running for a while with the heater and air con on to dry out and all seems fine....for now.

Very strange...... Must have been a bit of damp in somewhere/something. No obvious signs of anywhere. Will have a look into it a bit deeper when it's light and time allows.

Anyone else had a similar issue??

Water ingress is a common problem in the L322, go look behind the trim in the N/S rear quarter. Electronics and condensation do not go well together.

Did have a look in the boot Keith but no signs of any damp/moisture in there.

There is a channel under the carpet by the door sills that has the wiring in that is known to be full of water.

^^^ floor plan is like a classic but instead of the run off for washing out they put a channel, then decided this would be a great area to run the wiring
LR brilliance as usual :p

And in the case of one of mine, surplus self tapping screws maybe from when the car was made, one of which had rubbed through the insulation:(
