Hi new here
Help needed please anyone . I own a 2000 plate (Rover engine) Diesel FREELANDER . Had it for a year now no probs . During the summer months and all winter it has started first time every time . But i don't know weather is just coincidence but with the damp weather it's started to take two turns . Then 3 . Now it is on 4 - 5 turns of the key to start . once started no probs . some one surggested glow plugs . please help:D:D:D:D

Another possible cause I heard is LOW FUEL PRESSURE circuit, I had same problem, changed 3 of the 4 glow plugs( some Rover 400's with L-series engines have only 3 ) still no joy, I then decided to buy a Red Top OPTIMA battery as my old battery went flat trying to start it one cold morning and now I don't have to cycle IGN at all. Hope this helps, OPTIMA cost about £90-£140 depending where you get one, but you won't regret spending a little extra

Battery is the first thing i would check..had a similar prob and it turned out to be me battery..even though it was only a year old..

Its me again, what you have to have is a battery with a high Cold Cranking Amps rating (CCA) the OPTIMA RED TOP is 830 CCA whereas the Standard F/lander battery is something like 400- 500 CCA approx, maybe less, I'm guessing.
Best of luck, hope this helps.
