Many thanks Paul

what type of altenator is fitted to it?
how many amps, what type of terminals, which manufacturer?

Are you not just selling the whole thing? How much would you want for the whole engine (including turbo etc.) and where are you? :)

The engines a good runner ive never known an engine to start as well as it does. looking at the present prices there not fetching a deal and the turbo was brand new two month ago this cost £415 from paddock therefore i was thinking of splitting the turbo off the engine to raise abit more as if it was complete. Make me an offer if ya interested for the lot.
im Nottinghamshire junction 27 off the M1

Not sure about the alternator its just a standard disco 200tdi but leave it with me i will check later

How many miles has the engine done? I wouldn't consider buying it without the turbo though. I'd probably be prepared to pay up to £350 tops and I'd come down and collect.

well i think it would have to do abit better than that are you just wanting the engine ie no radiator or pipes or anything? is it a replacement? whats it going in?
Paul

It'd be going in a 1986 90 to replace my 2.5 N/A. I would pay for the intercooler and radiator on top but I wouldn't want to pay more than £60 for those together either, so a total of about £400 - £410 absolute limit. You might be better off just selling it in bits like you say, but I would be surprised if you could fetch half what you paid for the turbo on ebay.

Do you have any pictures or video of the engine running or starting?

Sorry to be a pain!

Think its worth more than than pos ;)

Well it was in our 90 and we removed it to replace with a 3.9efi v8 and after fitting it it had a cracked liner so we replaced the 200 back in the 90 and since then its been idling abit rough. so we rebuilt it with big end shells new rings (which were imaculate it was a waste of money) new turbo which didnt change it we had the head done valves reground n headgasket ect. But it still idles abit rough, but it warms up and is fine. It starts in half a second, the powers good and is a really nice clean lump. we replaced our 90 N/A with this 200 and it was like a ferrari compared to its old engine. Weve removed it basically to fit a proper 300 TDI defender engine. We have everything to put it in your 90 such as modified exhaust because its a discovery engine and not a defender air filter everything to get it in yours and running. it had 86,000 when we bought it two years ago, when the head was removed the block was immaculate still with its bore marks from the factory from when it was produced.
How do you attach photo's??
Paul

I don't know if we can upload photos onto here but you click the little picture button and then put the link to the image in.

So is it a genuine defender one or is it converted out of a disco? Only ask coz i can't see why you'd go to all the trouble of changing a 200 for a genuine defender 300??? (along with all the gearbox mods etc)

Sorry, just re-read - and can't believe you want more than £400 for an old disco 200 - Pos, did you realise this when you made the offer? Defender ones will get 5 or 6 hundred squid, disco ones will be lucky to get a third of that.

For £400 you can buy a complete disco Take the engine out sell the gearbox & axles on ebay and get £150 scrap value for the rest of it.
