what year did landrover start putting in 200tdi in the defender i am in the process of looking for a 90 and am not sure what year to go for

Some produced in 1990 will be 200 tdi, all produced from 1991 onwards will be until about 1994 where it changed to the 300 tdi.

Having said that, there's plenty of earlier Ninetys running around with Tdi conversions.
