Hi,

I recently purchased a 1992 90 which was running fairly well. The main problem was it didn't want to stop... So it's been in to have the solenoid replaced. It had also been hesitating a little while at mid to high revs.

This is where the trouble has started. While the garage had it up on the ramp it seemed to run out of fuel, looks like the fuel gauge isn't working but hey, not a big problem.

The fuel lifter pump then didn't seem to want to get fuel through so that's been replaced.

However when the garage did get the solenoid out it had what they described as almost graphite grease in it. Apparently it looked like it had ground itself to pieces. Not ideal in the fuel line I would assume.

Now it's back together and only two of the cylinders are getting fuel. Grrrr. So the injector pump is now being questioned. Tomorrow they're going to try and see if they can flush it through a little in case some gunk from the solenoid self destruct has made it's way through.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I might be able to clean this up if they don't?

Or if it really has broken the pump on where I can source one...? :(

Thanks

So you've taken your truck to a garage that knows very little about the Landrover and how it works and now you're asking how to fix it ! So that you can tell them what may be wrong !! It may be time to get someone who knows what they are doing before your garage destroys your engine !!!!!

Nearly right. I'm asking so I can see if I can do anything myself.

I'd taken it to them as it seemed a simple task while I work on the repairs to a replacement bulkhead. Looks like I'll be doing more than I'd planned :(

Thanks for the info, it looks like I'll be needing a new pump but from the thread I may be able to get away with it for a little while if I can get it clear again.

I'll pm you johnlad and I'll get the car back and try to flush the pump out in the mean time.

Cheers
