I am looking at upgrading my 200 tdi engine turbo, I currently have a standard turbo and want to upgrade to a hybrid turbo for better boost at both higher and lower rpm.

The question is... What do I go for, has anyone tried them and have you run into any installation problems?

Thank you!

Hybrids cant give you both top end and low down grunt, for that you need a vgt.

Someone used to do a vgt kit (pretty dear Iirc) for the 200 disco and defender, cant remember their name, but will see if I can find it.

Thank you for your response!

So what would be the benefit of getting a hybrid turbo over a standard turbo and a VGT over a hybrid?

Im no expert but I would say a hybrid will give you more low end grunt OR more top end power, and a VGT will give you both.
Think 200tdi being as flat as a fart at low rpms, 300 and td5 are just the same, then any modern diesel with a VGT (not counting town cars) you can think of with grunt all the way through the rev range.

Very true, I've got my eyes on a VGT for my engine that's sold by allisports... They seem like a reputable company.
