Hi all, i know i'm probably asking for a lot of trouble asking some of the following but i can't find some of the other things.
I bought my 1986 90 2.5 petrol just after Christmas, after spending very little on the thing to get it running after sitting for 12 months i've grown quite fond of the simple engine, however. it is my first car and as i'm only 17 and still at college i'm not too sure whether i will be able to afford the fuel costs.
A friend of my dads used to have a huge Disco and broke it for parts not so long ago, my dad spoke to him and he said he had sold the engine, but the bloke hadn't collected it after arranging several dates and said if i want it to go see him. I know it's 200 TDI, I don't know anything other than that about the engine, or the disco it came from.
I may be interested in doing the conversion if the lump is cheap enough and all necessary parts are complete with it. I'm fairly mechanically minded and i'm just about to finish my level 3 vehicle maintenance and repair course.
few quesions (here goes...)
Is it just a case of old engine out, new one in, intercooler pipes, coolant pipes, exhaust downpipe/turbo and the three lugs need drilling and countersinking. and onviously changing over fuel lines and glow plugs.
Also my local landy builder told me i may have to upgrade the standard 2 pin diffs to 4 pin as there 200 challenge truck ripped there's apart?
Sorry for such a overly covered post.
