I'm having a few issues with my landy and I'm thinking a 200 300 Tdi engine swap may be the ultimate solution (ie a landy that will pull a full trailer up hill without dropping down to 2nd lol) not looking for break neck speeds, just to be able to tow at 60 and still talk to the person next to me....

Is there anyone out there who can supply and fit such an engine if possible in Kent or the south east of the UK??

Take a look at "Glencoyne's" web page. He gives a good run down of the work and also will supply/fit.
That is if he is still doing them, web page a bit old now.

Just looking for options, could be cheaper to triad it all in for a 110 ??
But define cheep, or expensive....... cost of conversion V rent of a garage etc not to mention the amount of time it would take me LOL

You could try fitting a 2.5na, or a 2.5 petrol, if you don't do a huge amount of miles.
Bit more power, very reliable engines, and a very simple conversion, just a hoist job and swap some ancilliaries. You might even be able to do the job yourself. Engine should be cheap too.

Any local competent mechanic should be able to do this for you. Or any local indi LR bod. I'm sure there are plenty about, there usually are.

200Tdi's are pretty much a bolt in. Although you'll have to faff about to make the intercooler fit. But worth it, don't be tempted by going the 200Di route. Such a pointless conversion IMO.

300Tdi's aren't such an easy fit. It's all possible, but a lot more work for the most part.

You'll want to think about gearing, the stock setup on a Series won't give you much top speed and only high revs. So you'll want to look at options.

High ratio transfer case from Ashford Transmission (if they have any) is probably the best option.
Over drive if not, but pricey and often not very reliable.
Ghetto option is to fit 3.54 diffs. Will give you the cruising ability, but might make pulling away in first somewhat more of a challenge if you are towing.

Not sure on price but i could see a garage charging £1500 plus for a full tdi conversion if they supply the parts

Dont quote me on this by all means ring around and get some prices but if you do it yourself atleast you know its done right
 
Tow at 60 and talk to the person next to you? Buy a Discovery! Only kidding - a 200tdi and gearing change will do it. A 2.5 petrol swap would be a cheap option, but fuel costs would be an issue if you are covering big miles. A good 2.5d is a nice economical engine, but still not up to towing at 60 - maybe 50.

Sorry Ive not been around but work and military shows all take time (hence looking for a man that can)
I'm going to have another bash at sorting the rattle on the 2 1/4 petrol. Ive got it back from the workshop and have readjusted the mix to the correct setting on the color tune. Its now got a slight missfire that gets worse as you pick up the revs.... it has electronic ignition so any suggestions would be great!!

Its been recommended to change the cam rollers shoes and sliders to see if that helps so ill be ordering these and a new head gasket and maybe have a go next weekend....... but only if i can sort the missfire???
