put a 2nd hand 2" lift on mi disco last year...

always seemed to roll more on left hand corners than right hand..

so i recently swopped the rear springs over... so see if one had gone soft..

no difference...

however, after a bit of laning in the peaks last week the o/s is noticably lower than the n/s..

measured the front springs and the o/s is 3/4" shorter than the n/s..

i vaguely remember reading something bout the o/s springs being different to n/s..

i found no marks to tel me which was which..

do ya think i've now got the o/s springs on the n/s and visa versa?

or are they just shagged...
 
I'm no expert but I'm sure I've read on here that the front and rears are different lengths, so it's possible you have both the shorter ones one one side instead of on one axle

Rears are different to front by quite a lot... They are on correct axles.. I kno cos I put em on wrong axles to start with.. looked like I was pullun a wheelie! Lol...

Just wondered if they was different left to right on the same axle..

Thought I had read that they were but can't find the info now...
 
Mine does the same after fitting my 2 inch lift.I fitted mine brand new out the box thickest on the rear and it sat higher on pass side. Half inch ish.swapped the springs over left to right and still the same.

I fitted all new springs dampers bushes spring seats spring retainers and dislocation cones from paddocks and I have same problem.

Heard something bout drivers side being higher to take weight of driver and level out.but I have swapped them over and still the same

Terrafirma spring pairs come with one 10mm longer than the other for the drivers side to overcome the weight of a driver only ...
 
Yes they are different lengths, mine cam with one longer than the other, its because the OS of the vehicle has more weight I believe, transfer box e.t.c. sits more to this side...

Put the longer one on the OS, did you change your shocks as well? What about brake hoses and bump stops? Should all be done as well!!
 
got brake hoses for front, lowered the bracket on boot floor for rear axle..

just sortin bump stops out, lost mine at some point?

gonna swop the springs over left to right an see what happens b4 shelling out the £120...

3 hours of pain and swearing..:mad:

no bloody difference... its still leaning to the o/side..:confused:

why would the o/side front spring be gettin compressed 3/4 of an inch more than the n/side?????..

turret rings are ok on both sides, the plates the springs sit on are fine.. :confused:

what the chuff is goin on!!! :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Time for a rebush as well, although didn't Land Rover do handed OE spec springs that were slightly stiffer on the drivers side?
 
i thought maybe the springs were on the wrong sides of the car so thats why i swopped em today..

which bushes would cause the lean to the o/side?
 
Well I've had a look round front suspension..

Arb mounts don't look quite right?..

I'm guessin they should both look the same?

Looks like someone jacked it up on the first picture and bent the mount
Can't see why that would make a difference on the height though

Ones been hit/collapsed/crushed from the look of it.

I should have though of this before, I had the rear anti roll bar link on one side go overcentric (so it looked mirror image to the opposite side) and that caused my old D1 to lean.
It's not an obvious thing to spot and a very easy fix by getting a long lever bar behind the link and popping it back in place ;)
 
i shall have a look at the arb links and see of one has flipped over..

is it just gonna be a case of brute force on the mount?

i aint got anything i can use to get any heat into it...

As long as the welds aren't cracked it should go back with a 'gentle tap' from a large birmingham spanner ;)
 
well few taps with a 14lb sledge hammer straightened up the arb mount..

but the spring is still 3/4 inch smaller on that corner..

arb links are both same was up.. cant turn over cos steering tie bar is in way..

whats next?

cant be bushes in radius arms, can it?
