Hi all

I have a 1995 300TDi which requires the suspension replacing (its still on the original springs and shocks), i would like to lift it 2" but i have some concerns:

1. How will it handle towing a 1.75T caravan quite often?

2. I cant afford bigger tyre’s yet will it look silly with the standard 235 70 R16 on it?

Am i right (all the research has scrambled my brain) in thinking 2" is the highest i can go without needing to change anything else on the disco

Rob

Even a 2'' lift can cause problems. See thread ''thinking of lifting your vehicle''.

Alot of people lift on 2" springs and shocks only, OK for road use but if your gonna push it a bit then you will be breaking prop donuts, trailing arm bushes e.t.c.

You could do the lift and then do the extra bits at a later date, you will need to be spending nearer the £1000 mark to do it correctly though...

had had a 2" lift on all the landys ive had and the only additional things ive replaced were extended hoses

ive never had any problems atall associated with a lift and all my landys have been on 35" or 36" tyres

its all about maintenance,if youve failed to maintain your landy properly and then do a lift then things will fail

dont take a couple of peeps bad experiences with a lift put u off
the good outweigh the bad experiences

I just lifted mine but replaced all bushes with poly bush. Painted all what I took off New springs shocks and HD steering arms. Total cost around £500 That's with paying an expensive firm to rid me of bushes I couldn't get out without a lot of trouble. Looks and feels mint. On standard tyres at moment waiting to gather the money for new set. Just got a prob with rear anti-roll bar flipping over. But will sort that tomorrow. Guess it's something I done wrong. Apart from that Go for it. Took me a week to do with waiting for paint to dry. Didn't put caster correction arms on, as I have drove one on 2" lift everything else standard. Didn't correct itself 100% but wasn't a worry. But mine seems to still correct it's self ok. Prop's are near straight so can't see much strain going on them. Not for everyday use anyway. Donuts are easy replaced and not that much to buy. So if you replace it every year it's good maintenance. Good luck with it I'll put pics on of mine tomorrow if you want to check em out.
