Hi
I'm thinking of gettiing a disco and have found two. One is on an "M" plate, good body and will need some tidying to stop the rot, but ok at the mo. Steering feels stiff but otherwise runs well, but not as free reving as others I've tried.
The other is an "R" plate, better chassis but has small rot holes at the bottom of the front wings between the front doors right at the bottom. Does anyone know if these would be an MOT failure?

"M" reg has 118k, full shist. MOT until 2 Dec 08
"R" reg has 127K, some shist, MOT unitil 8 Jan 09

A lottery I know but would anyone have any advice on which would be better , I'm trying to weigh up pro's and con's in terms of age versus, mileage, versus bodywork probs.
Any advice really welcome

paint bubbling on the bodyshell is not rust.

check the boot floor under the carpet, inner wings under the bonnet, rust inside the rear door frames. But most of all get underneath and check the chassis, that'll be where the rust is!

there are so many to choose from... choose one with a good chassis

I would go for the newer one, an R reg should be a lot cheaper to fix rot problems and 127k is not a lot for a 300tdi.
Whether the rust holes are an mot failure depends on exactly where the holes are.
I couldn't quote the rules on what rust means an mot failure but i'm sure someone on this site could:rolleyes:

Happy hunting
