Hi lady's and gents, thought I'd share with you all what if been doing over the last few months as I know you all like some pics and a good resto/ rebuild thread! Iv been mad about these things since I was about 14 and have always wanted a six pot, I am now lucky enough to have two, and a few other landys and couldn't be luckier! over the last few months I have been stripping, welding, poking holes and uncovering the nasty rotten mess hidden beneath in my 109! I do work on these things every day so I know what lurks benieth most and how bad they can get! Anyways, some of you may recognise this landy from last year, and I decided it needed a new home and something doing with it, as I love saving these things! It is in a state and is proving to be alot of work! All the rot was covered by filler and paint, and we'll I'm surprised it was still together when I got to it! But it was cheap so what can you expect! Anyways I do have some pics but it may take me a while to upload them, so bear with me please! Hope you like the pics! Thanks, Tom! I did have more pics of when I got it home but they are on my other phone and its now dead, sorry!

Few more pics, stripped the front down, and started digging and cutting and welding the bulkhead up, will be repainting it in the original white, putting a truck cab on it, and some nice black pepper pot modulars. As you can see the top of the bulkhead on the drivers side is a little lower where iv welded the patch in, warning, this is due to the repair panel being slightly different to the original spec, so will need a additional patch on the top! Not filler!;)

Got some more pics for who ever looks as there doesn't seem to be slot of interest! Lol! Many it's the six pot, no one likes them, apart from me and flat! Cheers, I love these engines, not alot more power, but such a beautiful sound to listen to! Anyways, more pics of the welding and iv painted some bits too! And chipped paint off the galvernised capping's and polished them! :D!

Were there not many vehicles fitted with the 6 cyl engines? You never hear much about them. Of all the series vehicles I've looked at on ebay in the past, I don't recall ever seeing one for sale.

Matey. They are a relatively rare (and sought after engine). Others in the forum have more knowledge of it's evolution. My understanding is that it was only ever available as the 1 ton 109 and derivatives therefore (the LWB carawagon for instance). It requires extra bulkhead room due to the length. So for this reason it's not a simple lift n shift into any old landy. I've come across a few in the past. It's as u would imagine a lovely engine. Reminded me of a BMW straight 6. It's got a wider heritage in BL engineering. Downside apart from rarity n bulkheads is alloy cylinder head which is very sensitive to warping if overheated or wrongly tuned. Personally, my favourite landy would be a SWB station wagon with that engine; but that's not something u come across .

I'm a 6 pot owner as well (check out my rebuild thread to see what mine needed doing) so it's nice to see another getting attention. And yes I do recognise the vehicle, I was surprised it took so long to sell. Get more pictures up, better quality ones too if possible, we all like seeing photos of crispy bits becoming shiny bits!

Nice work so far. Keep the photos coming.
What is the end plan? Light refurb / full resto or rolling improvements & maintenance?

Shame more Landys didn't have that 2.6 in them

Sorry guys, I haven't updated as I haven't been able to put the photos on, I am working on it, and will hopefully get more on here soon! It was a rite state to be honest, the bulkhead was completely broken away from the chassis as it was soo rotten, so it moved when you steered the car, the foot wells were shot, the chassis needs the front cross memeber, and six outriggers, and the rear cross member welding on properly, as has been half finished! The plan is a total respray, it's too good to need a complete rebuild, but it was getting to that stage had it been left another few years! So repaint, new doors, bulkhead refurb, chassis repair, full service, all capping's cleaned and refitted, to give the worn look, as I think it makes them look more authentic! And some black pepper pot steels with some fatter tires! Will use as a weekend car, and improve and care for the old girl, I will always save any six pot if I can, I love these things, and think that anyone who buys one to rip the six pot out is a waster! These are soo over engineered, and a truly great engine! Thanks for the reply and feed back! Will try to keep the pics coming! Thanks, Tom.

Few more pics! Will post more soon, had a very very bad week this week! Sorry it's so slow at the moment!
