the same ammount of ball ache as fitting a 200tdi but without the donus of power, reliability and ability to use veg

Why fit a TD when you can fit a Tdi? Can use veg in a TD... Patman used it in his for ages. Even so... why fit a TD when you can fit a Tdi?

edd zachary, stick a 200 in for a coupla hundred squid else you'll regret it (although the TD will be fine on veg)

cos i have a 19j sat on the floor that i have just took out of my defender which is having a 200tdi put in :p

2.25 3brg petrol

the fuel return is already on the the tank. the pipe is just folded over cos its not used.

was thinking more in the way of engine mounts and exhaust

If it's a disposable engine going into a disposable car then why not... if it's your only toy or your daily driver then it's probably not worth the time and effort ;)

a mix of 2.25 and 2.5tdi mounts are whats used on the tdi so i would think the same applies to the td, as for exhaust use the 19j down pipe then make the rest of the system from universal pipes from a motor factor

did it with yella into his series, only right hand engine mount to move backwards, remove battery tray, make up rod for throttle and then make up water pipes to suit

so its bodge up some eninge mounts (using the 19j ones one the 200tdi thats going into the defender)

unless anyone has some knocking around (buster:p),bit of unversal exhaust pipe, take the right hand mount off (again) and move it to suit.

What about mating it to gearbox? using the original adaptor on the 200tdi. could i use the tdi one?

ian, you dont need an adaptor plate, the series clutch and pressure plate fit straight on, like stig said, it took us half a day to drop mine in, its a piece of **** to do, the only fiddly bits were the engine mount and the exhaust. you also need to make sure you have a fuel return on your tank. as yours is a petrol, you wil also need to wire the glowplugs via a relay onto a switch

The only reason i asked about the adaptor plate yella, is the I am knicking the one on the TD to bolt onto my 200tdi that going into the defender. Good point about the glow plugs wirte tho , thanks

the td gearbox will fit straight onto the 200tdi, i think you need to remome a dowel, but you dont need any adaptor plates.
