I'm new to this forum, but not new to landy's (Gawd help me). My latest acquisition after a 3 year landrover drought is a series3 powered by a 2.5 petrol engine out of a 90. I'm posting in this forum since I reckon all the 2.5 expertise will be here...
The landrover goes very well - too well, in fact. It's been fitted with an ACR power plus system, with custom manifold, single SU carb and custom exhaust downpipe. It's a whole new kettle of fish to accelerate up a motorway gradient in a series 3.
Thing is, I'd rather have the standard set up - then I know I can get spares, know I can adjust and repair it (don't know anything about SU's) etc. I've been having difficulty sourcing 2.5 petrol engines at breakers, so haven't been able to find a manifold and carb.
So my question is: will a standard series 3 manifold and carb fit the 2.5 petrol engine? I know I'll have to refit the mechanical throttle linkage, but apart from that, are there any other difficulties?
Or, does anyone know of a breaker with a 2.5 manifold and carb who's willing to post it?
(or, if anyone knows anything practical about the ACR system, any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated!)
