Question 1.
Not bad to remove.
First off, remove or tie back bonnet so it's completely out of the way.
Disconnect the battery.
Disconnect the wiring loom, heater plugs, thermostat sender, oil pressure switch sender (oil temp if you have it etc).
Disconnect the cooling system from engine.
Disconnect the fuel system from engine.
Disconnect the throttle cable.
Remove floor panels and gearbox tunnel cover.
Drain the coolant from engine block.
[Optional] I took the radiator panel and radiator out so that there was no chance of damaging the rad. This means you don't have to lift the engine very high. If you are feeling brave, you could lift it straight up and over the rad, but that's pretty high!
Hookup engine crane to engine and take up slack.
Unbolt engine mounts from brackets (2 bolts)
Unbolt engine from bellhousing (about 10 bolts)
Move engine towards front of engine bay slowly. It should disengage smoothly from gearbox. It might need a little help to get started.
As engine moves clear, ensure that everything is disconnected.
Question 2.
Not much, if anything but someone might be interested in it. It will be better if they can see it running in situ before removing it.
