i am ####in ****ed off.
drives fine on motorway not brill starter hot or cold.

just put it into diesel specialist they plugged in no faults found.
but the bastard would not let them read live data
what now they and 3 others recon its the injector pump guessing
HELP

A little off the wall but my car had had a BECM unit changed and this was telling the gearbox that the car had a V8, as a consequence the car was painful up hills.

A very kind and knowledgeable gentleman on the forum met me locally put the car on his diagnostic equipment and discovered this, all the engine readings were good, hence he looked at the gearbox settings.

Might be and idea as sometimes the BECMs are swapped out, caused me other key programming problems

You just need a local P38 owner with diagnostic kit

good luck

Cold starting more than likely glow plugs. Fuel lift pump not working could give bad hot/cold start and low power on hills. MAP sensor pipe split could also cause power to be down. What diag did they use?

would a nanacom pick these things up wammers

Some of them no. Lift pump not working won't show on any diag. Live data would show lack of boost pressure and other problems if you had someone that knew how to read it. Lots of things to look at before you start thinking about injection pumps.

thanks wammers
i will check pipe in morn then take to tim fry landrover see if they can read it
to check boost etc then look at lift pump in tank
hope it aint injector pump errr

In tank pump is a common failure item.

going to run a facet in line pump and non return first see if it cures prob
before dropping the whole tank out cos i dont want to butcher the car as shown in you tube vid

ive just been under the car 4 bolt holding the tank so im going to replace the pump
sod cutting into pipes and wires fitting facet pump would cause **** loads of probs latter.
just hope it cures the bad starting guttless hill climbs etc.
dont have a ramp so putting it in garage.
is this the way to go ??

Have you checked that the pump is duff? Tank must be dropped carefully or you will do damage there are things that need disconnecting before it hits the floor. Check the brake pipe that goes over between body and chassis from O/S to N/S. Now is the time to change it if it's rusty. Total ball ache with the tank in place.
