Anybody had any experience of converting 2.25 diesel to LPG with a kit.

I have what was called a Series 3 Urban by Warwick 4X4 with coil springs and defender axles and have had it from rebuild in 94

I have read about Diesel LPG kits but the LPG will not replace diesel fuel. It is used as well as diesel to improve performance of the engine so with the extra power you dont need to floor it as much saving you on expensive diesel while using cheeper lpg as a supliment. In the real world you would prob do the same mpg and have to pay for the lpg as well because you would end up using this extra power (well I would anyway)

Just stick a big propane bottle somewhere you can reach the valve of, fit the biggest capacity regulator you can find, and connect a hose from the regulator outlet to the air inlet of the engine.

Start driving, and turn on the gas. You will be able to take your foot most of the way off the throttle. You will save diesel, but use and pay for propane, and probably die in an amazing fireball.

But in a word, it works, and there are systems out there. One of the current difficulties with most diesels is the turbocharger pressure cutting down the flow of regulated gas just when you want it up high.

It won't save enough to be worthwhile, and the costs of the gas system and the size of the tank are against it.

Your series 3 diesel will NEVER be other than what it is, which is pathetic compared to its successor engines.

Save your cash for a 200 tdi engine, and have twice the oooomph and a better MPG too. Even a 2.5 NA or a 2.5TD 19J would be a big step forwards compared to a 2.25 diesel

Oh yes, and you eliminate the risk of a horrible death in a propane fireball.

but if death in a propane fireball then it is the will of god............
I should drive to the nearest crowded passenger terminal
and purge the nation of the unbelievers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oops, must take some more tablets.
