I'm not sure if this has been commented on before but this is a detailed video of a mechanic changing a clutch on a 1999 L series.


It should be a big help to anyone thinking of doing the same, even on a TD4 as much of the job is the same.

Great video.

No "look at me I'm a great mechanic" - he doesn't need to, you can tell he is

Not sure I'd balance the IRD on my knee though

I recon god invented trolly jacks for balancing and lowering heavy stuff, not me joints

He probably invented blokes like him for working on me Freelander to... but where's the fun in that

I've often thought about doing instructional videos like that, for various Freelander jobs. However I never have the time to do them, as doing a video quadruples (is that a word?) the time it takes to do the job.

I nearly did a video on replacing a front caliper in 15 minutes recently, but alas the wind was too strong, and I didn't fancy over-dubbing it later.
