Can anyone tell me what the piston to bore clearance should be at the crown end. The manual states a skirt clearance but I want to see if I can reuse my existing pistons. A diameter measurement of a new standard piston would be useful.

you need to do it at the skirt bottom,pistons arent perfectly cylindrical till they warm up

Yes, but I need to know what the top clearance should be.

there isnt one and each set of pistons will vary often by several thou

I have always worked on 0.001" per inch of bore but I have never done a diesel engine before.

td is 1 -2 thou piston clearance at the bottom of skirt
