Hiya Peeps! Working through the jobs on my project P38, noticed someone had been into the rear driver's side parcel shelf. Had a peak and the RF receiver is missing, the wiring is there but no box? As the driver's door handle had broken (new one on it's way) and the main key was a bit worse for wear... now fixed, I hadn't had a chance to check out remote or central locking. Does anyone know which dot colour for this year.... is it green? Has someone resolved the problems these had with external signals from other sources?

They are all compatible, but don't get one off a jap innit as they are a different frequency. The green dot ones are supposed to be better at not receiving bogus signals. But you need to check inside to make sure someone hasn't put a green for on a regular one.
Or just leave the antenna unplugged!

There are 3 versions of the RF receiver see photo, all work but only the final version is proof against spurious signals.
Early types can be used with Marty's filter or a second RF receiver & Fob to switch the P38 receiver off and on.

I would recommend Marty's filter, (Have one in both my P38's) so you can use any receiver, but make sure you get the 433Mhz receiver. There are lots of eBay ads for the Gen3, but many are fake & have the older PCB.

Marty has moved to NZ, but still making the filters. See here: http://p38webshop.co.uk/
His site is under construction, what sort of price?

I've got my old blue dot one somewhere but it would need a filter or Brain's remote jog switch trick.

"Remote jog switch trick" sounds interesting? My new to me door handle has arrived so I should be able to see if I have a working central locking off the driver's door. I had fixed the fob and got red lights but now it looks as if one of the micro switches has broken, doh! How much for your old receiver?

Here you are the cheap work around

+++++1 for Marty's filter box. I have one and it is fab.
Jog switch means 2 fos and 2 batteries to keep on the go and more bulk in your trouser pocket. :(
Yes, it works well, but it's kludgy. :)

+1 they definitely do the job. I also had one of the first available, which Marty later replaced with updated firmware. Did the 2nd one on my project P38 last year.

Only one challenge remains is the one-touch "close all windows" never seems to work when using the fob with the filter inline, but that's a minor annoyance becasue I generally check the windows before exiting the car.

Seems a bit of a faff just to isolate the aerial when not in use. I need to check the becm is shutting down though I think the aftermarket stereo the previous owner has put in might be the cause of the battery drain, aerials for gps, digital TV and cameras?

If you could cover the cost of postage that would be great. The envelope at the top right allows private messaging. Don't put your details on an open forum.
