Hi all, their I was thinking the £650 spent on it to sort the BeCM problem was all that needed doing to make my Rangie virtually faultless again and then the Air conditioning packs up!
I have had it tested and it's got a leak were someone mentioned the other day on here that they often rot.
I was pleasently suprised that they don't seem to cost the earth but their are plenty of companies selling them.
Can anyone reccommend where to get a new one from and what sort of price I should be looking to pay?

I have had two replaced in 4 years. The first one was supplied by the Aircon company and cost around £140..lasted two years then went on the top l.h. "U" bend which was the same place as the original had gone. Bought a new one off Egay for around £100 and that is working fine, no complaints.
They are a known weak point on the P38. The tubes are made of aluminium and the tubes are bent in a serpentine pattern, as with anything that's bent, the outside stretches and thins, whereas the inside of the bend is compressed. It's the thinning of the tube wall that leaves it open to leakage, especially with the heating and cooling cycles.

did i mention it can be repaired, not the best solution i admit but it works and cost less than 5 quid!

how can you repair it mate? was going to get mine regassed today when tested the condensor was leaking

so would be interested in fixing the existing one rather than buying a new one?

you need to take off the front slam panel(the one above the rads, about 4 bolts i think) then check the corners of the condensor, on the left you will prolly see some tiny holes, you may need to rub it down a little to see em, dont worry you will need to rub it down anyway, go to a motorist shop and have a look at plastic padding leak fixers, read the back and one(or more) type is rated for engine blocks and aircon amongst other things.

clean the condensor on the corner as stated above and apply the sealer/liquid metal. try to make it up stodgy as i got it all over the place including on my kegs, dunno how!!, let it set then test it again for holding pressure!! obviously there may be other leaks so teat it before you gas it!!
