Hello All:
I have had my 1999 Landrover Discovery TDi 2.5 for over 15 years and love it. I've had loads of issues over the years (new engine, electrics, lots of water leaks, etc.) but kept it going.
In recent weeks the Central Locking has stopped working. Using the key manually in the door is fine. Alarm works fine. Engine working perfectly. Took it to mechanic and electrics specialist and no joy so far. We have had loads of rain this past two months in Dublin so it might be an electrics getting wet issue.
I also noticed that the wind wipers have stopped working on the lowest (intermittent) setting.
Does anyone have any ideas? Given it's 21 years old its borderline if its worth spending any more money on to keep it going.
Thank you very much,
Emmet

Hi Emmet and welcome to Landyzone. Nice looking motor.
I’m sure some of the Disco lot will be able to assist you.
:)
Seams a shame to let it go after all your efforts.

Hi Emmet, welcome to the Asylum.
I have one of 1998 vintage and although it needs welding I love it and will not give up on it, and my 1999 D1, although a petrol, is staying too. So don't give up on it too quickly.
You are in the right place for help and advice.
300tdis are sooooo much easier to work on than TD5s
Just go to the Discovery part of the forum and post there.;)
:):):):):)

Yes - sorry you are correct. Discovery 2 7-Seater. TD5. Thanks.
Feck! Ignore my comments then!
Get under the thing and check out its rear chassis, then see if all the exhaust manifold bolts are still there and there is no gap tween it and the head.
Then sit back and wait for the next thing to go wrong!
Best of luck with it mate!

I don't reely hate them, mine drives lovely, but they are a heck of a lot more complex than a D1.:(
