Working on a 1995 GMC fullsize van, 4L60e tranny shifts up and down between
drive and od at speeds above 45 mph. Shift is quick and harsh, and happens
every minute or two. With shifter in d, van drives ok. Is tranny bad or?

What are the MIL codes? Without that you don't know why it is
ahppening. Possibly a bad TPS.

Malfunction codes. Much like ODBII codes, but they are only two
digits.

Does it vary with higher speeds and throttle application? Also are
you sure it is tranny shifting gears or the torque converter clutch
locking and unlocking under load?

It seems to shift down to direct, then right back up to overdrive. It is
not sensitive to throttle position or speed above 45 mph all the way to 65
mph it acts the same. How do i get the MIL codes out? I am a diesel
mechanic for a readymix concrete company and the van belongs to one of the
drivers. I realy don't know alot about the newer electronic control
systems. The problem started slowly, and has increased in frequency over
about the last 50 miles. Thanks for the help, Jon.
