Hi I have a 1988 defender 90 2.5td and most times I go to start it I turn the key and nothing but after numerous amount of times after turning the key it starts straight up had a new started and alternater but still nothing

Try removing, cleaning, and replacing the main chassis earth lead.

I had a 110 once that occasionally just did nothing when the key was turned. No clunk, no click, nothing. Cleaning up the chassis earth lead solved it. Might be worth running a new one directly from negative battery terminal to one of the starter motor bellhousing bolts as that will provide a good earth path.

Yep...double check earths and also main feed cable from the battery. Corrosion inside the cable leads to high resistance and intermittant starting (run a jump lead from battery to +ve on solenoid).
You can also rule out (or otherwise) ignition switch or actuator live fault by running a wire
from the spade connector on the solenoid and touching it to battery +ve
