Hello.

I have a red 90 pick up, which I feel is in need of some love and revamping.
I have already installed: Mud flaps, hood, new floor mats, new seats and new headlight mounts.

Are there any suggestions you may have as to what modifications I can do/accessories to buy in order to make my land rover feel more like my own and in order for it to function better?

Interior suggestions would be much appreciated - currently very bare with no speakers, radio or general amenities other than a cigarette lighter.

The bed would look smart decked out in teak with the black rubber joint lines, like a boat deck. Very hard wearing and non slip. Some nice chrome load ancker points set in, very smart.
 
Pretty landy! Some WIPAC LED indicators, side lights & brake lights would be a nice touch, not very expensive, subtley enchances the look and functional! RDX/BoltOnBits do the Fog and reverse lights.

Radio would would be good too, Kenwood & Alpine both do excellent units. As for speakers Infinity/JBL are very good (basically cheap Harmon Kardon) plus they both make 10cm speakers which should fit directly into the lower dash.

"Defender" sticker that sits on the slam panel inbetween the grill and bonnet looks good too.

Overall it comes down to what you use it for, how often you drive it and how much you want to spend.

I have been looking for a 'Land Rover 90' plaque for a little while to go on the slam panel but can't seem to find a genuine example for sale.

In terms of wiring/battery, etc - how easy are speakers to install and get running? Do they sound good in comparison to ones that are factory fitted into a TD5 or Puma?
 
Factory fitted ones a f*cking awful!!! I mean seriously bad... When I bought my 110XS TD5 I removed the headunit and factory speakers soon as it was home.

Radio needs an ISO plug fitted, check if yours has one or not. If it does easy peasy, if not its a little harder. Speakers are as easy as running cable behind the dash.

Currently, the cabin is extremely loud (too noisy to really even talk to someone). Is the soundproofing worth it?

Also, I have a question regarding exhaust modifications. The engine is actually a 200tdi retrofitted by the previous owner - do you think that a straight-thru pipe might help the power output? Are there any modifications which won't completely break the bank that might improve the performance of the truck?

A straight thru will not really give you any noticeable gains, it will however make it rather loud! I don't know much about 200tdi tuning so I'll leave that to someone else....

As for soundproofing Fatmat do some great products for a fraction of the price of Dynamat but it is just as good if not better. It is worth doing just in general, time consuming though. Though that is quite in depth, if its bare bones inside then Noisekiller, Exmoor Trim and a few other companies do sound deadening kits which generally consist of rubber matting, makes a world of difference!

As for security get an X-Eng barrel lock, £89 or so but stops thieves snapping the barrel off, completely passive- i.e nothing to lock or unlock each morning. Pedal lock is a good idea, X-Eng also do a very solid, permanently fitted model, only needs to be unlocked, uses a slam lock to lock it. Easiest one is a Disklok, cheap too.

What do you mean 'power output'?

A 200tdi should have plenty of oomph in a 90.

If your boost diagphragm or pin is stuck it will lack top end power when the turbo is spooled up.

Don't go slutty with it, that looks like a lovely 90 - would be a shame to fit a load of bolt on bling ****e imo

That is a really pretty 90. Its almost a shame it has the 200Tdi in it, as it would be worth more if it were original - though not as nice to drive....probably..

My first thought, when I saw the pictures was :-

Plenty of security for starters!

IMHO - Forget everything else until you have a tracker on it !!!

200 Tdi is tunable - but, as said above it should go pretty well in a 90. Full width intercooler, boost pin and a tune will really make it move though, if you really need to - it'll also make the fuel gauge move a bit faster too !!
