Having used my dads Series 3 to do TYRO in when i was 15 and him subsequently having to sell it down the line, i have always had something missing from my life, so a few weeks ago i made the decision to get my own. This will be my first project on my own and i couldnt wait to get started. So where do i start .... the same as many people, i jumped straight onto ebay to look for inspiration, and several hours and nailbiting auctions later i finally won the start of my project, a tidy rolling chassis picked up for a couple hundred quid!

Subsequently, i found a guy in worcester that was trying to offload 2 Tax exempt series 3's with mint bodywork but chassis that were rotted to hell! The thought of splitting these sisters up, affectionately names lara and betty by their previous owner, was unbearable so i told him id take them both. so at this point im eagerly waiting the sisters arrival. Pictures and more info to follow :D thanks for reading

Update* Should be taking delivery of the first of my two sisters today! will get pics up asap!

Looks a tidy start, I hope you have plenty of space as these things tend to spread when you pull them all apart ! Chassis number on a series three is stamped on front right hand chassis leg. It may be missing if the dumb iron has been changed. Enjoy the project, don't rush it and have to do things again. Plenty of help on this board for you.

Thats what i was counting on, the second of the two donor cars i bought has chassis plate and v5 intact and is also tax exempt, so im pretty much getting two tax exempt cars for a couple hundred quid

One of the ones with a rotted chassis? I don't know the ins and outs of the current rules but are you going to be able to use that ID on the rolling chassis you have? What happened to the ID of the rolling chassis?

the rolling chassis is a 1984 series 3, chassis is fundamentally the same, there is no identifiable chassis number on the rolling chassis, due to it being blasted and painted. as far as im concerned though, all im doing is a chassis swap on one of the tax exempt vehicles ;)

The other ones bulkhead will still need some repairs, but is repairable, unless someone comes along with one for sale in the meantime, need to keep posting so i can make a thread in the 'wanted' section :D

Update, got the wings off today, rocker cover off and header bolts all undone but headers wont come free, anything ive missed? or tips on getting the headers off?

Good luck with the rebuild lets have the photos of the other series, one good point is the chassis looks in good condition the less welding the better.
