One thing that annoys me on my 12J 2.5 diesel conversion.
The cylinder block only has a brass drain plug for the coolant, not the very convenient tap of the S3.
Previously, if I needed to change the water pump, I'd run a pipe from the tap to a bucket and hardly waste a drop of coolant.
The brass plug has a very coarse pitch thread (not exactly sure what), radically different from the old S3 tap.
Any easy/cheap way to convert it back to the tap, without it becoming a major exercise in engineering ?

Is the plug big enough to drill out and tap the S3 tap into it?
Unfortunately I don't think so.
Now if I can find a steel plug with the same thread, I might be able to drill it, then weld a short length of steel tube onto it, followed by a nut or collar with the correct thread for the S3 butterfly tap.
Pure bodgery I know, but I'm good at stuff like that.

I'll bet you'll find different threads are used on steel and brass. Does a 2a tap not screw straight in?
