Adrian Flux Insurance - Click Here to get a quote!

Well, I really didn't think it would be such an issue but the insurance companies seem to have a real problem with my Defender and it's 12 seats.

I spent a great deal of time yesterday chasing my tail trying to get someone, anyone to give me a quote.

Lancaster, Adria Flux, Confused.com etc...
The ones I spoke to directly all came to a halt as soon as I said it had 12 seats, "ah, sorry Sir, we won't go any further than 8 seats", a couple sad 9 but none went further.
The compare sites had a drop down list that went to 10 so that was out, or was it....
All these sites, when I just clicked on the max allowed came up with the same company with a quote of £170 but one of the compare sites had a drop down list that had a max of 8 or more. Well mine has 8 or more and that covers it, right?

I took a screen shot and continued. I now have insurance and if anything happens I can say I was covered by the drop down list '8 or more'.

I really never thought it would be such an issue.

As a side note NFU mutual would cover me but the cost was 3 times what I'd expect to be normal.

I'm assuming everyone else has the same issues with 12 seats?

I have a 9 seater and there was only a few companies that would cover it. The best deals I got were from admiral and flux. I went with admiral but think I will change to flux next year as they give green lane cover too. I would check your policy schedule as the number of seats will be specified in the small print. The comparison site might say it is ok but they always have a disclaimer to say you need to check the insurers policy details to make sure it covers everything. If you have a claim it could be a quick way for them to cancel your insurance leaving you liable for everything.

When the document arrive I'll have a look through to check.

From what I've printed off so far there's no mention of the number of seats but they have all the other vehicle details. Surely with that they would know it was built and registered with the 12 seats it still has.

had exactly the same problem- Flux gave me a quote comparable to all the others - 3 quotes that was , that would cover me - and their's covered me to green lane , whilst the others didn't

Oh the old green lane con rears it's ugly head again, green lane = public road so normal road insurance should cover it as you are on a public highway

Parptoot,

We do have some underwriters that can cover 12 seats under certain circumstances, if you can give me a PM with your surname and postcode - I'll have a look into it for you.

Many thanks

Jordan
