Hi everyone, I'm currently giving my RRC a once-over preparing for daily use over summer, and planning to replace the (imo substandard) suspension.
My old Disco had Old Man Emu's which were great, the pro-comp shocks not so much, as many people here have also expressed. Budget is fairly tight, though the product has to last as shipping to New Zealand is around 150 pounds. Still not as bad as the $1500 for a basic set here.
I want a 2" lift for tyre purposes, but prefer a firmer ride, often tow very heavy loads, and have an extra ~50kg of bullbar on the front and ~100kg of permanent tools in the rear. It's running a Peugeot X3DT which I am unsure of the weight of, but I'm guessing it's more than either the 200tdi or the V8. Articulation is well down on the list of priorities. A mate of mine pinched the standard shocks off a 110 to use with a set of 2" lift springs with very good effect on his Disco. I'm wondering if it's possible to go a step further and use 110 springs as well? This should give me both lift and the firm rate that I'm after. As far as I'm aware the fatter rear springs of the 110 should fit, but it would be reassuring to hear from anyone who has tried this before!
