Hi All,
I have been locked out from my old account so here we go. I have a 1984 Land Rover 2.5td 110 with 19j engine. I am trying to rebuild and "pretty up" after the timing belt skipped a tooth. I have that issue sorted but Wilfred has exposed a number of other issues along with it (welding, electrical, oil seems to be everywhere, every nut / bolt seems to be seized and rusty and finally I'm not as competent as I imagined myself to be) for me to fix.
I have a spare 19j that I will eventually restore but for now I just want to push Wilfred back to road worthiness. Is there any tricks/mods that I can do to make my engine run a little cooler, improve performance/fuel economy? I was thinking of running the oil breather into the chassis rather than into the rocker cover and mounting the air box externally on the top front wing (cheaper than a snorkel) so it has cleaner air.
Anyways, that's my wild eyed ideas..... care to pick holes in that?! Thanks in advance.
Kind regards
Dan.
