The aluminium bracket (part 614870) has snapped on my 101GS, has anyone got
a spare one of these they can sell me? I would ring the owner's club but it
broke after 5pm on a Saturday so I thought I'd ask here first. Basically the
bracket has broken at the point it joins to the driver's side v8 head. I may
be able to get it tig welded but would buy new if it's not a huge amount of
money, is it likely to fail again if I do get it welded? I don't have any
experience welding ali but I do know how much difference heat treating it's
alloy can make & I've never had much luck getting cast steel components like
exhaust manifolds welded reliably.
Thanks,
Fergus

Is it not possible to make a replacement one yourself?.

I can't recall exactly what the one on my 101 looks like (and its
parked 10 miles away so cant look right now!), but it cant be that
complicated (famous last words! )

It would be fairly simple to make one from steel but it's nice to keep these
things original I always think.

I'll make me an un-authentic steel one if you want to buy a genuine
aluminium one....
