Hello,

I started replacing the water pump earlier, and started fiddling with things once I got going The air con has never worked (no gas) and the bearings are shot. I was feeling confident, so decided to whip it out and have a go at replacing the bearing, then a re-gas and see what happens.

As I was undoing the first hose the casting snapped and the threaded bit is oxidised inside the hose nut the second one did the same

No worries, Defenders are all built with standard parts, I'll order another one I chuckled to myself Long story short, my compressor and brackets look nothing like what google images show a TD5 as having. I've uploaded a couple of pics - any ideas what I'm looking at!?

To make things worse the sticker with the model number on is unreadable. Looks like a "Sanden Model U 46..."

Any ideas to salvage the hoses would be good too!

The brackets look like non-standard things that have been bolted onto the standard one.


The mounting lugs are "front to back" rather than the standard part's "side to side"

... or has anyone got a pic of the standard mount? Thanks.
