I'm working on an 04 1.8 Freelander HSE, recently purchased as a wee project. I've replaced the clutch, driver's window regulator, fitted a brand new Exide battery and put in a petrol tank strap until I can organize a cradle for the tank. I've also forked out for a new key and programming, as the transponder in the old key was lost under daft circumstances. Problem now is that the engine starts, but immediately cuts out. There are no faults reported in the diagnostics that the specialist who programmed the key performed, and all the sensors, Crank shaft, cam shafts etc. appear to be fine and plugged in securely with no corrosion on the plug terminals. There also appears to be no problem with any of the vacuum pipes or hoses. The car ran perfectly before the work was done so I'm at a loss as to why it won't run now. The hair pulling begins!!

Okay, a wee update. Engine now runs beautifully, thanks to my friendly local specialist. I now find that I need to replace the clutch hydraulics. after that, all being equal, it'll be two new tyres, devising a back box hanger, check the brakes and put her in for an MOT. Wish her luck! :rolleyes: :eek:
 
Check actuating arm is free before fitting new hydraulics, new tyres fitted to the rear, or better still, buy four

Actuating arm is free, if a little stiff. will work on that. After all I've forked out, it'll just have to be two tyres for now. Supposed to be 215\65 R16 all round, but someone mixed front and rear before I bought it. 215's on the front, but 205's on the rear.
 
'nother update, went out to the motor today, and she slipped into gear just fine. Don't think it was the clutch hydraulics after all, must have been a sticky clutch plate.:confused:
