Hi All, i've had a new alternator fitted today and now the rev counter isn't working at all even when i rev it. Also the battery light is on constantly. Any ideas what this could be or how i can solve it?

Cheers Terra

like Sean says it aint been fitted properly. You might want to get a fire extinguisher at the ready too.

I understand the fact it hasn't been fitted correctly, i was asking what may be the problem before i take it back to my uncle tomorro who has been an auto electrician for the past 50 years. He fitted it today whilst i was at work but the starter motor on the landy is playing up so he couldnt get it started to test it before he left.

I don't really see how you can fit it wrong... it's pretty bloody simple tbh. The new alternator itself could be faulty.

would have thought after 50 years he'd have known how to fit an alternator, hope you've not had him fit anything complex like a set of spots

Like i said, the starter motor is knackered and he couldn't get it started whilst i was at work, shall be taking it to him tomorro to be put right. Was just intrigued to find out myself but nevermind, i shall find out tomorro. I thought personally it might be somsing to do with the belt but hey, what do I know.
