Hi all, first post so first things first, a big hello to all.

I recently bought an 05 plate XEi model, with a mere 35k on her. One owner from new, wirth full landrover service history.

3 months and a few days (typical..... 3 month warranty!!!) my wife was driving off and i thought it was gonna cut out on her. She mentioned it had been doing that for a while.. (i don't drive it myself... ).... Had a run in it... all seemed ok as long as you keep under 2000-ish rpm, but open it up and its jerky, spluttery, wing mirrors visibly vibrating... Any ideas more than welcome... help! ... please tell me i haven't bought a turkey...

intercooler hoses are infamous for doing this ??. Blocked fuel filter easy to fit new one.

Hi mate, and cheers for the fast response... i realise i shoulda mentioned it's a petrol.. my mistake..... but fuel filter sounds interesting... guess there's no harm in swapping it out just to cross it off the hopefully not never-ending list of what-if's.... thanks again mate.

sounds like fuel starvation, but at only 35k I'm not sure? More likely a vacuum leak in the manifold.

Weak coil pack? Plugs? Leads?

You'll have to check each in turn.

On the twin pack k-series, the wasted spark firing system can prematurely wear two of the four plugs. IIRC some of the MG boys raised this point.

once again, thanks for the quick response.

when i phoned the dealer to have a moan he did mention something about there being a problem with a weak coil pack in that motor. £40 sound about right for a new one? also, easy to fit? most of my mechanical skills centre around my bike unfortunately...

Hi All,

Good news - fault turned out to be nothing more than a single faulty HT lead... took it to a friend of my dads, a real old school mechanic guy in his 70's, got a phone call an hour later to say come and get her... £25 later.... job done.

Thanks to all for your responses.
