Central Locking

Hi Folks,, Yesterday my driver side central locking system decided to quit on me, Here is a desription of the way it stands at present.. on first beep alarm goes off but the door button stays down 2nd beep as per normal all doors are released and pop up except drivers side still... use of the key will make the drivers button pop up as normal operation.. click right button on key fob all buttons including drivers side all lock as per norm... it seems to stop operating the button on the drivers side on popping up... now the dilema is can this be a case of resetting the system somehow or has anyone got any suggestions how to fix , Im thinking its a return wire somewhere that pushes the mechanism up as the pull side of it seems to work... Thanks in advace to suggestions

Sounds like a failed/failing lock mechanism.

only thing to try is getting the door card off, and lubricating the rods and pivot within. Had this myself, and in the end had to buy a new lock mechanism.

Cheers for that,, Have already had the door card off just wondering how I get to the mechanism,, been staring at it wondering how it got in , if it went in it must come out...lol..

Each door lock has two motors, one to lock/unlock and the other to superlock/unlock (superlocking stops you opening the doors from the inside ).When you press the unlock button on the fob it un-super locks all the doors and unlocks the drivers door. The second press unlocks the other doors. It sounds like one of the motors is siezed. If you can open the door from the inside it isn't superlocked so that motor is O.K. if you can't it could be your problem. It could also be the ulock wire to the motor (I think it is the pink one )

right will take a look at that in the morning ..., Its still puzzling me but the solutions are much appreciated guys!

true, tis a bit of a nightmare for getting in and out. I did mine by first undoing the three torx bolts holding the lock assembly to the door, which then meant the lock was supported on the locking rod, which isn't great but there you go. I then felt along the rod and just "fiddled it undone". There is no technical way of saying how I did it, only that. The door release is by a cable in a sheath, so that can be left in situ until the lock is outside of the door cavity, and you can release it then, noting how it connects.

Once you have the assembly in your hand, you can then work out how the lock rod connected, so you can then refit it.

Leave the electrics connected, then you can watch the lock as you operate the locks.

First time took me an hour, including the door card, and lots of language trying to get the lock rod back on. When I bought the replacement, 20 mins start to finish.

Nice breakdown,,, Got rather fed up looking at it and played around with my MGTF instead and put the door card back on think I will just use the key till it bothers me or drives me nuts which ever comes first....
