Scantool for Discovery Td5

Hi, I'm looking for a scanool that works on a LR Discovery Td5. There are more opinnions about it's OBD compliance, it seems mine(MY 2000) it's not EOBD or OBDII

, I want to purchase a scantool for my car but not just for the ECU, my bigger problem is the BC(U), I know about the Omitec, Autologic, Faultmate, Nanocom, Hawkeye and Dec SS, these are or to expensive, or not flexible enough. It's no problem if the scantool is not a cheap one(I mean not more than 1000USD) if it has a good coverage on my car but I want to use it if I change my car too. I'm interested in any suggestions, oppinions, advice or offers. Best regards

you said theyre all too expensive but then you say it doesnt matter if its not cheap???
Nanocom & Hawkeye arent expensive in Diagnostic terms...no where near 1000USD
EOBD & OBDII wont work, thats why there are the products you listed....you wont be able to use it on a non LR vehicle.
Omitec is a good system although updates for later models are limited at the moment

Keep it simple get a Nanocom for the TD5 thensell it with the car, or Ebay and recoup yourmoney when you ultimately change. Otherewise there is no solution to what you want.

The obviousness of that fact will leed me to do it. it was one of my possibble solutions but I tried to find some other solution too.........thanks for advice.

If you're into electronics you can probably roll your own OBD II reader using a pc, an arduino and a _lot_ of patience.
I fancy a nanocom but I cannot justify the price either so I know what you're going through.
My first question on this board was very similar but I ended up buying one because I had to try - It did not work (no surprises).
So, I'm sad to say, you're left with beg, borrow or buy

I'd buy a nanocom, but no-one seems to have any, and there are rumours of stopped production and a new model for March.

Having solved my SLS problem without one, I can wait for now. Anyone got any firm news on a new nanocom? Hawkeye seems a viable alternative for not much more, and seems to have BCU capability (though I've not seen a clear list of what exactly it can do (e.g. change remote settings to unlock all doors with one press on keyfob?)
